Zurich, Switzerland

Zurich, Switzerland

We spent the first half of our week in Switzerland in Geneva and the latter short half in Zurich; meeting a friend and visiting Christmas Markets. Zurich felt significantly colder than Geneva, especially with all the frozen snow on the ground

The Broken Chair, Geneva, Switzerland

Geneva, Switzerland

Switzerland is notorious for being an expensive destination (and we can now confirm it) however you really don’t have to break the bank. The major costs to traveling are lodging, food, and transportation and unfortunately AirBnB is still fairly new in Geneva, so our choices were really either hostels or hotels. On the other hand, with any hotel or hostel booking in Geneva

Traveling for a month: Lessons learned

It’s been over a month since we hopped on that first flight to Paris and began this crazy adventure around the world. While it’s been incredible, it has also been a bunch of *facepalm*s, “time to reroute”, and “we’ll just have to make this work”. While Carl has traveled extensively with his family, prior […]

Lyon, France

Lyon, France

From Nice we took a long train ride to Lyon and we arrive just in time for the very last night of their Festival of Lights! As soon as we’ve checked into our AirBnB we do a search for a quick dinner and you already know that the second we saw an option for hand pulled noodles, (recall our Lisbon favorites?) we were ready to go.

Promenade du Paillon, Nice, France

Nice, France

After our whirlwind adventure in Morocco we land in Nice in the evening. Originally we planned to catch the bus from airport to Airbnb but there was construction going on and when we followed the signs to the bus station in the other terminal, we discovered that it’s closed and realized that the stop was moved to the shuttle stop where we were initially dropped off at when we changed terminals.

Chefchaouen, Morocco

Road trip through Morocco

Morocco was the most epic and stressful, poorly planned (due to inexperience), and magical country we’ve been to yet. With only 6 days we spent most of it driving but the countryside was stunning – we saw everything from fields to rolling hills and from desert sands to snowy mountains.

La Sagrada Familia

Barcelona, Spain

One thing we love about Spain is how restaurants are typically open really late. We find Los Bellota, due to their strong online presence (good job guys!), and are delighted by their gamba el ajillo or garlic shrimp – though mild on the garlic, they were very flavorful and perfectly tender.

Seville, Spain

Seville on the other hand, feels like the quieter, pious and dignified middle sister. She is a gorgeous historic city full of churches and lined with orange trees, and while we saw plenty of tourists, the vibe of Seville was very relaxed. We only had a few days and we wished we had more time.

Madrid, Spain

Ah Spain, there are so many things to love about you: thick hot drinking chocolate and churros for breakfast, tapas for all day snacking, and all the lush parks throughout the cities! And Madrid definitely has it al

Padrão dos Descobrimentos, Lisbon, Portugal

Lisbon, Portugal

Lisbon is one of our favorite cities so far: decadent seafood to 5 EUR hand pulled noodles, pastéis de natas and espresso any time of day, and literally breath-taking views everywhere you go. Those beautifully tiled pavement and building exteriors, the wide diversity of cultures – there were surprisingly tons of Asian markets and restaurants […]
